Year 12 Photography
To the left is a final piece in response to the theme of 'Abandonment'. Holly states that she took her photographs and used bleach on them. She then used pins and acetate to create a three dimensional effect. She is now making work about the 'Passing of Time' and below are some examples of her landscape photography. |
'Holly's outcome entitled 'Abandonment' is both innovative well executed. The bleached areas that cross the face are powerful and project ideas around loss and fear very effectively. Risk taking like this will not only gain you marks but will also help you to acquire your own style. Fantastic work' art2day

Alexandra Park Secondary School
'A fantastic selection of painting, photographic and mixed media work from GCSE and A'Level students at Alexandra Park Secondary School. Their work shows some real risk taking as well as some highly developed skills. It is clear to see the conceptual and contemporary ideas behind the work and this is to the students and teachers credit' art2day
'Some truly inspiring work from these young artists. Their work is skilfully executed and conceptually brilliant. It is highly commendable that both the students and teachers are pushing the boundaries of art education and creating contemporary and thought provoking outcomes. These students should be incredibly proud of the work they are producing at this early stage in their artistic careers.' art2day

'When You Look In The Mirror'
by Justine and Morgan Chen As products of a social media age, we are surrounded and flooded by images of others. We are inevitably affected by these images, and sometimes they even begin to change us in the process.
When You Look In The Mirror is a interpretative photo project inspired by body image and self-harm issues. Instead of directly portraying these issues through images, a bit of interpretation is required. There is no singular message in any of the works--they stand together and alone, and can be interpreted differently. |
'Really thought provoking work that addresses some big issues that affect many young people today. My suggestion would be to try some portraits of people you know that have faced these issues. Another fantastic project from Outside the Lens.' art2day

'Fantastic use of colour that really accentuates the strength and power of the animal, especially around the head. Would be worth considering the background too and possibly how you may incorporate a sense of movement into your painting style. Great work.' art2day

Louise B.St Albans, UK'My name Louise Bateman, aged 14, I'm GCSE art student at my school in St Albans. I was advised to look at Marcia Baldwins, a professional artist specialising in Oil paintings, which then inspired me to do this horse painting. At school we got given the theme of 'Animals', so I've been exploring artists that use different techniques to paint animals. I hope you like it as much as I do.'

A2 level Art Chronological Collaboration
Villiers High School, Southall, UK
'Year 13 students have explored the essence of life and the evolution of time in a photo project. The artists committed themselves to taking a photograph every hour that they were awake from Friday afternoon through to Sunday evening. We then organised the unedited photos in group chorological order, exposing evidence of our everyday lives. The artists found the process both challenging and enjoyable and we were surprised by the beautiful nuances and the underlying similarities of our lives.'

Holly B. year 12"The project was called 'Fashion Illustration'. My brief was to design a collection for next year’s trend; we had to incorporate colour trends and designers that we had researched to create 6 final designs. We had to layout the designs however we thought the designs would look more appealing. The materials that I chose for my final designs are light fabrics which would create a sophisticated and modern look." Holly Beard
'Great to see a diverse range of designs. Experimenting with several ideas allows a creative process to result in the best possible outcome' art2day |
